Antibiotics Before Dental Treatment

There are certain medical conditions that require patients to take an antibiotic prior to receiving dental work. Your physician has likely discussed this with you if you have any of these conditions, and Dr. Swiatowicz would be happy to consult with your physician if necessary.

Cardiac conditions requiring antibiotic prophylaxis:

    • Prosthetic cardiac valve
    • Previous history of infective endocarditis
    • Congenital heart disease
    • Cardiac transplant patients who develop cardiac valvulopathy

PATIENTS WHO HAVE HAD A JOINT REPLACEMENT USUALLY REQUIRE ANTIBIOTIC PROPHYLAXIS
