Dr. Michael Hazuda Jr., DMD

HazudaDr. Hazuda founded our dental practice over thirty years ago.  He was born in Delaware and attended Dickinson High School.  From there, Dr. Hazuda went on to the University of Delaware, graduating with a B.S. degree in Chemistry.  After the U of D, he studied his craft at the University of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Hazuda graduated with a D.M.D. degree in 1981 and completed his hospital residency in Wilmington in 1982.  He was awarded a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.  He continues his education in all areas of dentistry including restorative, implant and cosmetic dentistry…to date he has logged over 1650 hours of continuing education.   He currently belongs to two active area study clubs of multi-disciplinary dental professionals.  Dr. Hazuda is also a charter member of what is now called the Hockessin/Greenville Rotary Club and is active in his Lutheran Church.

Dr. Hazuda has been married for over 30 years and has 3 children.  Kara, a UD graduate, is happily employed at Capital One in Wilmington and was married in September 2012.  Her husband, Matt, also a Delaware native and athletic trainer, is now enrolled in the Physician Assistant Program at Arcadia University.  Michael III completed his degree in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech and is employed as a design engineer with Intex in New Jersey.  Leah graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Delaware and completed her master’s degree in Health Promotion. She is employed in the Philadelphia area.  Some of Dr. Hazuda’s hobbies include reading, road biking, hiking, tennis, scuba diving, boating, the beach, travel, photography and spending time with his family.

Another one of Dr. Hazuda’s favorite pastimes is music.  He was a founding member of the local rock band “Whale” in the 1970’s and Dr. Hazuda played with “Boys Night Out”, an 8 member rock-n-roll horn band with some of his ex-Whale friends.  He also created “Dr. Mike and the Molars”, a dental health show that was performed by Dr. Hazuda and his staff for area schools for over 12 years.  Sharing information about good dental health habits through song and dance was very effective and totally FUN!

Dr. Hazuda is dedicated to taking great care of his patients, making sure that they get the best, most up-to-date dental care, and that each and every experience here is comfortable and enjoyable.
